As noted, Niinistö expressed hope that Putin’s visit would be successful, noting that Finland was closely following the talks between the Russian president and French leader Emmanuel Macron.
“As far as we understand, the visit was successful. And at present, we really need successful visits, ”he added.
Earlier, Putin arrived in Helsinki, where he is expected to discuss with Niinisto “trends in the world and geopolitics,” the situation in Ukraine, the Arctic, and flights over the Baltic.
