The White House is considering lowering taxes and tariffs to prevent US entry into recession, US media reported on Monday, despite Donald Trump's insistence on the health of the US economy.

According to the Washington Post, White House officials are studying several measures to boost the US economy, including a temporary cut in the payroll tax to improve the purchasing power of workers.

According to the New York Times, the United States could also waive the new customs duties imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese imports in the context of the Beijing trade war.

These are measures under consideration, and officials who have the idea have not yet sought the advice of President Donald Trump, which should also obtain the approval of Congress, specify the two media .

"Lowering payroll taxes is not something that is being studied right now," the White House responded to the Washington Post.

The payroll tax had already been temporarily lowered in 2011 and 2012 under President Barack Obama to try to pull the US economy out of stagnation following the 2008 financial crisis.

According to a poll released Sunday by the National Association for Business Economists (NABE), nearly three quarters of US economists expect a recession by 2021. A view that does not share Donald Trump: "I do not believe that there will be a recession and we are doing terribly well, "he told reporters on Sunday.
