At 13 o'clock on Monday, a suspicious dangerous object was found at the Linköping police station. The national bomb squad was summoned and a large area at the Garrison in Linköping was blocked off.

At midnight, a heavy detonation then occurred in one of the police warehouse buildings, where the object was stored. No person was injured, but the store, which was used to store theft and lost property, was destroyed and several windows in adjoining buildings were crushed.

- The hope was that you could hold down the detonation more than it is now. At the same time it was something that had been taken into account. It did not go quite as you imagined, as I understood it, police spokesman Erik Terneborn told Corren.

Tasks: Stolen moped

The police have not yet disclosed what it was that exploded but according to unconfirmed information to Aftonbladet it is a stolen moped that would be returned to the owner. In connection with the return, suspected explosive dough and spikes were discovered in the saddle, the magazine writes.

The case is classified in preparation for the general destruction of the property. Police have not yet commented on whether they believe the night's detonation is linked to the large explosion that severely damaged several residential buildings in central Linköping on June 7 this year.

The press conference starts at 11am.
