“We are in touch with the Cameroonian authorities, and they do not confirm the information that the abductors got in touch,” the diplomatic mission said.

It is noted that there is no information about the whereabouts of the Russians, searches continue.

Earlier, press officer of the Russian diplomatic mission in Cameroon, Garegin Martirosyan said that, presumably, the Russians from the cargo ship Marmalaita were captured by Nigerian pirates.

The attack on the ship became known on August 15. Pirates abducted eight people, including three Russians - a senior assistant from St. Petersburg, a captain from Vladivostok and a senior mechanic from Murmansk. Among the abducted are also a Ukrainian and four Filipinos.
