Berlin (dpa) - Fans of the TV series "Game of Thrones" (GoT) can hope for more stories from the fantasy world Westeros. If it comes to GoT creator George RR Martin, then the world in which the saga plays is far from being told.
"'The Song of Ice and Fire' is just a special story about a special group of characters in a series of specific crises told in this world," said the 70-year-old writer and television producer of the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung". "But there are other stories in Westeros."
How the stories are to be told, Martin left open. In May, he announced in his blog to work on the development of five other fabrics for the GoT channel HBO. Some of them have nothing to do with the Westeros world of the successful fantasy saga.
Two years earlier, HBO had stated that several spin-off series of "Game of Thrones" were planned. Four screenwriters are to design four potential developments of the fantasy saga together with Martin. HBO already has specific considerations for an offshoot that plays several thousand years before the events at "GoT". For a pilot episode with Hollywood star Naomi Watts (50, "King Kong"), it has been reportedly filming according to media reports.
