US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday accused the Iranian regime of continuing rounds of media misinformation and marketing itself as a victim rather than a primary sponsor of terrorism.

In an interview with CBS, the US secretary of state stressed that global trade requires freedom of navigation in international waterways.

He thanked Bahrain for joining Britain and the United States to maintain freedom of navigation and enhance waterway security.

The White House recently announced that the administration will continue to exert maximum pressure on Iran until it stops sponsoring terrorism.

On the other hand, Pompeo admitted that the Islamic State terrorist organization is gaining strength in some areas, but its ability to carry out attacks has diminished.

"It's complicated. There are definitely places where ISIS is more powerful today than it was three or four years ago," Pompeo said in remarks.
