The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is looking forward to a smooth resolution between the parties in response to the anti-Chinese protests that have been taking place in Hong Kong for more than two months.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Jae-woong replied at the regular briefing this afternoon asking whether the Foreign Ministry is in relation to the Hong Kong protests.

In Hong Kong, protests against criminal offenses have been taking place every weekend since early June, and an estimated 1.7 million organizers took part in the protests in the city today.

At the time, China raised the militant police under the People's Liberation Army up to 10 minutes from Hong Kong's border ahead of the protests, raising concerns about armed intervention.
