On a video, two uniformed policemen club a lying man, whose body is belted on a stretcher.

Two Hong Kong policemen were arrested on Tuesday after a video showed them abusing a man on a stretcher in a hospital. Since the beginning of the protest in Hong Kong, the police are accused of brutality by the pro-democracy movement.

A man on a stretcher struck

"It is obvious that the acts committed by the police officers concerned are illegal," police spokesman John Tse said, adding that the police had only discovered the video on Tuesday.
In these images, recorded at the end of June by a surveillance camera, the two uniformed policemen club a man lying on a stretcher, whose body is belted on a stretcher, and seem to want to prevent him from shouting by firmly holding a sheet on his mouth.

"Police officers are never allowed to use violence"

In the cramped room, the two policemen alone take turns beating the man for several minutes. According to the police, he was then under arrest. "The two officers involved were arrested for assault causing bodily harm," the spokesman said. He promised a full and independent investigation, insisting that "police officers are never allowed to use violence". The incident is likely to fuel even more anger against the Hong Kong police force.
