So to today's news: the lack of space in elderly care.

How can this even be a news? How can we repeatedly read in the media about how old people lack special housing? Especially in Sweden, where the ruling politicians constantly have their mouths full of promises of security and welfare.

After all, it is hardly possible to listen to a politician without telling you about all the efforts they want to make in elder care.

In addition, we know that aging has changed dramatically over the past 50 years - in a positive direction. Today's 70's is like the 70's.

And in 2028, in less than ten years, Sweden's population is estimated to exceed 11 million. Most, percentages, are those who are 80 years and older and in 2028 they are estimated to be 255,000 more than today, an increase of 50%! This according to Statistics Sweden.

So what are you waiting for politicians, get started and build!

It is now high time to raise the issue of responsibility of the family versus society. As it is now, the relatives are sneaked into the nursing work because the elderly will stay at home for as long as today.

And I know from my own experience when I was caring for my own mother - and I remember how I felt cheated. No one had talked to me about the fact that we have family care in practice today.

When my mother could no longer manage herself at home, I thought that welfare would be there with a place on a retirement home.

The awakening was broken . According to the aid assessor, mother was not bad enough for the elderly. It was enough with home service, which was not enough at all. I felt compelled to move in myself, while working full time.

Sure, we're getting older. But don't forget that the last horrible years have also been extended. Because of good medicine.

The move of my mother would have happened far earlier. She lived at home for one or two years. But a place on elderly housing costs, so it is clear that the municipality pulled it out.

Yes, I have said in an earlier time in the media that you have to be "pain in the ass" in the municipality, call them every day because in the end they give up.

Today, many people go to work with a lump in their stomach after the holiday, because they know that mom or dad is at home without getting proper supervision.

I know. I was once one of them.

Again, what are you waiting for? Get started now politicians: build, build, build new housing for the elderly. And use the new tools, such as robots, to make it easier for staff.

Because we can't have it like this.
