President Moon Jae-in visited Jeonju's carbon fiber plant.

The second relevant company visit after Japan's export control measures.

Carbon fiber is one-fourth the weight of iron, but ten times stronger and seven times more elastic, making it a key material that is increasingly used in future industries such as hydrogen cars.

However, due to its high dependence on Japan, it is considered an additional export control item.

[President Moon: In order to become a responsible economic power, a country where no one can shake, we need to reduce our dependence on certain countries for our core materials.]

Mr. Moon encouraged Hyosung's new investment of KRW 1 trillion and announced the government's plan to foster national strategic industries.

[President Moon: We will select 100 core strategic items such as carbon fiber and invest a large budget of 7 ~ 8 trillion won over the next 7 years.]

The government has decided to exempt preliminary feasibility studies for the research and development of key materials, parts and equipment.

The Blue House said that Japan has allowed additional exports of photoresists designated as regulated items, saying that Japan's attitude has not yet changed as supply uncertainties remain.

So, whether the extension of the ROK-Japan military information security agreement is expected, the day after tomorrow's meeting with the foreign ministers, the government will decide the policy.
