The tests were held on August 18.

"The Department of Defense conducted flight tests of a ground-based cruise missile of a conventional (non-nuclear) configuration on the island of San Nicholas, California," the US Defense Department quoted RIA Novosti as saying.

As the Pentagon noted, the test missile "left the land mobile launcher and hit the target precisely after more than 500 kilometers of flight."

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the United States had budgeted for the development of missiles that violate the INF Treaty almost a year before Washington left the treaty.

On August 2, the INF Treaty was officially discontinued at the initiative of the United States.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow cannot ignore the state of affairs after the US withdraws from the agreement.

He instructed departments to monitor Washington’s steps to develop the INF Treaty.
