The French president, Emmanuel Macron, receives his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Monday at Fort Brégançon.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday urged the regime in Damascus and its Russian ally to respect the ceasefire decreed in the province of Idleb in north-west Syria.

"It is imperative - we are very keen and we will have the opportunity to talk about it - that the cease-fire decided and acted in Sochi (Russia) is really respected," he said while receiving his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in his summer residence, Fort Brégançon, in the south-east of France.
