Due to the continuing natural fire on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, according to the authorities, the number of people who had to flee their home or holiday home has risen to five thousand. No injuries or casualties occurred.

More than six hundred firefighters and fourteen firefighters are fighting the fire, but the work is hampered by the dry, warm weather and the strong wind. Moreover, meteorologists expect the temperatures to rise further in the coming days.
Last week, forest fires were already raging in the mountains of Gran Canaria, part of the Canary Islands. Then about a thousand people were evacuated. The area is very popular among tourists.
