FC Barcelona's French international Ousmane Dembélé is suffering from a left thigh injury and will be out for five weeks, the club said on Monday.

"The tests carried out on the player of the first team, O. Dembélé, confirmed that he suffered a fibrillar lesion in the femoral biceps of the left thigh," said Barça in a statement posted on its website.

"The approximate recovery time (for this type of injury, ed) is five weeks," it says.

In addition to the start of the season with his team, Dembélé should also miss the next qualifying matches for the Euro-2020 team of France, against Albania on 7 September and Andorra on 10 September.

The French winger had already suffered the same type of injury last May.

This injury does not help Barça's business who already has to deal with several absentees. His center forward Luis Suarez suffers from a right-sided muscular injury, contracted during the opening match of The League on Friday, and is expected to be absent for a month. The Catalan club must also for the moment do without his star striker, Lionel Messi, injured his calf since his first practice of recovery on August 5 and spared since.
