The explosion should have occurred on a highway in Fermanagh at 10.30 am local time during Monday morning, writes the Belfast Telegraph.

Police Chief Stephen Martin says he believes the attack was a deliberate attempt to lure police into the area "to murder them".

"Although this object was meant to kill the police and the military, the truth is that it was located on a main road, so the result could have been devastating to anyone nearby," the police chief told Belfast Telegraph.

Objects during the weekend

Already this weekend, reports have come of a suspected bomb in the immediate area where Monday's explosion should have occurred, reports the Belfast Telegraph. After investigations, it turned out that the suspected bomb object had been placed by someone who wanted to be cheated.
