Belgian rider Victor Campenaerts, time lapse specialist and track record holder, left Lotto-Soudal and joined Dimension Data for three years, his new team announced on Monday.

"His pedigree is exceptional and being joined by a runner of his own against the clock is very motivating for the whole team," commented Dimension Data director Douglas Ryder. He notably mentioned the objective of the Tokyo Olympics as his team will be renamed NTT, named after a Japanese telephony operator.

Campenaerts, 27, was European time trial champion in 2017 and 2018 and third in the 2018 world championship standings.

In 2019, his main achievement is to have beaten in February the world record of the hour, with 55,089 km covered, erasing tablets the winner of the 2012 Tour de France Bradley Wiggins.
