FIFA has listed the top 10 goals for the Puskas 2019 award. The one, capital, scored by Cameroon's Ajara Nchout at the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand (2-1) is included. The Indomitable Lioness will perhaps succeed the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, winner of the Puskas Prize in 2018.

FIFA announced on Monday, August 19th, the names of the ten players vying for the Puskas prize for the most beautiful goal of the 2018-2019 season. Created in 2009, this individual trophy bears the name of former Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskas (1927-2006) and mobilizes the votes of Internet users. For the 2019 vintage, among the 10 preselected goals (scored between July 16, 2018 and July 19, 2019), we find the one recorded by the Cameroonian international Ajara Nchout in the closing seconds of the match of the 2019 World Cup against the New Zealand, June 20 (2-1).

While the score was 1-1 and the Indomitable Lionesses were eliminated, striker Ajara Nchout had twice dribbled New Zealander Ria Percival before fooling goalkeeper Erin Nayler (90 + 5). A splendid goal that allowed Cameroon to snatch victory and qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.

In the running against Ibrahimovic, Messi, Quagliarella ...

The goal scored by Ajara Nchout faces stiff competition. Indeed, in the preselection established by a panel of experts from Fifa and the world of football, we find very beautiful goals, some of which are marked by superstars: the Brazilian Matheus Cunha (with RB Leipzig), the Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic (with Los Angeles Galaxy), Argentina's Lionel Messi (with FC Barcelona), Italy's Fabio Quagliarella (with Sampdoria from Genoa), Colombian Juan Fernando Quintero (with River Plate), American Amy Rodriguez (with Utah Royals), Northern Ireland Billie Simpson (with Cliftonville), Englishman Andros Townsend (with Crystal Palace) and finally Hungarian Daniel Zsori (with FC Debrecen).

In 2018, Egypt's Mohamed Salah became the first African to win the Puskas prize , for a goal scored with Liverpool against Everton. Internet users can vote for their favorite goal on the FIFA website until 1 September 2019. Once the ballot is closed, the three goals that have obtained the most votes will be subject to a new vote of a panel of experts named Fifa Legends, who will nominate the winner 2019. His name will be unveiled in Milan on September 23, 2019 during a ceremony.
