Twelve departments of eastern France, from the Loire to Alsace, were placed in orange vigilance because of a risk of "violent" storms, said Météo-France Sunday in its bulletin of 06:00.

The alert launched by the forecasting service concerns the Ain, Côte-d'Or, Doubs, Jura, Loire, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhone, Haute-Saone, Saone -and-Loire, the Vosges and the Territoire de Belfort and should be maintained until Monday morning.

The end of the night and the morning look calm on the departments in orange vigilance, at the front of an active rainy system extending from Upper Brittany and the Pays de Loire to the Hauts-de-France and the Ardennes .

From Sunday afternoon, until Monday morning, storms will develop on an axis from Occitanie to Lorraine and Alsace.

These storms are expected to be strong on departments placed in orange vigilance, where heavy rain is expected with hourly intensities of between 20 and 40 or even 50 mm (generating a risk of runoff and local floods), hail , gusts of wind between 80 and 100 km / h, even locally more, and a sustained electric activity, specifies the weather operator.
