As indicated in the publication, at present, in Russia, larger ships are decommissioned, and smaller ships, both new and modernized, take their place.

As an example, the publication cites the modernized small missile ship Smerch, which is armed with 30- and 76-mm gun mounts, batteries of small air-to-air missiles and anti-ship missiles Uranus.

At the same time, the article emphasizes that the American side adheres to the opposite tactics. The US Navy relies on destroyers and other large ships.

“The American fleet and the Russian fleet are opposites, each of which reflects the strategy, history, industry and geography of their country,” the publication points out.

It is clarified that the US fleet, supported by a powerful high-tech industry, prefers large ships for their ability to travel long distances in support of interventionist foreign policy. The Russian fleet, for its part, relies on shipyards that can reliably produce only small vessels.

Along with this material, it is noted that the Russian Navy is currently behind the US and China in qualitative or quantitative indicators.

Earlier it became known that the Russian Navy in 2019 will replenish 15 ships and boats.
