American Phil Mickelson was hot on Sunday and nearly missed out on the final round of the BMW Championship in Medinah because his hotel was struck by lightning, the five-time Grand Prix golfer explained on Twitter. Slam.

"It's not crazy, that? My hotel was struck by a lightning, I was on the top floor. We were evacuated and there is fire now (the only thing that really makes sparks for me this week) ", he tweeted.

"I can not go back to my room, I may miss my turn," he said, leaving clothes and clubs in his room.

But the 49-year-old champion has reassured his fans, not without humor, explaining that he could take part in the last round because his clubs had finally served as a "fire retardant".

In the competition, dominated by Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson is far from having set fire to the tournament: currently ranked 47 out of 69 competitors, it will take more than luck if he wants to be among the 30 best players of the season and qualify for the next round of the championship next week.
