“I welcome the meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the serious situation in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This is the first time in 50 years that the world's largest diplomatic forum can raise this problem, ”the prime minister wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, Pakistan requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on Kashmir.
On August 5, the upper house of the Indian Parliament adopted a resolution repealing Art. 370 of the Constitution, under which the state of Jammu and Kashmir is guaranteed a special autonomous status.
Subsequently, Pakistan decided to lower the level of diplomatic relations with India and suspended trade with a neighboring state.
