Dortmund (AP) - Borussia Dortmund has begun its title chase with a goal gala and conquered the table top.
The runner-up of the preseason won in the Bundesliga 5-1 (1-1) against FC Augsburg and has after the season opener two points ahead of champions FC Bayern Munich. Co-favorite Bayer Leverkusen had more trouble than newly promoted SC Paderborn in 3-2 (2-2).
The 1st FC Cologne could not score as Mitaufsteiger Paderborn on his return to the House of Lords. At VfL Wolfsburg, the Rhinelander had beaten 1: 2 (0: 1). A surprising 3-1 (1-1) away win landed Fortuna Dusseldorf at the new Bundesliga record club Werder Bremen. The SC Freiburg prevailed against Mainz 05 with 3: 0 (0: 0) and is thus in second place.
One day after the surprising 2: 2 Bayern in the opening match against Hertha BSC Dortmund had to face Augsburg after just 31 seconds conceded by Florian Niederlechner. But BVB answered quickly. Paco Alcacer equalized just two minutes later. Despite superior play, the Dortmund had to wait until the clear victory was shot out: Jadon Sancho (51), Marco Reus (57) and again Alcacer made within eight minutes for clear conditions. New signing Julian Brandt (82.) finished the final.
Bayer Leverkusen were beaten by Leon Bailey (10th) and Kai Havertz (19th) against Paderborn. Sven Michel (15th) and Streli Mamba (25th) met for the Ostwestfalen. It was not enough for a respectful success, because Kevin Volland (69.) shot Bayer still to firmly scheduled victory.
Werder Bremen could not be happy about his record with 1867 games in the upper house. Fortuna Dusseldorf spoiled the Hanseatic League's record party with goals from Rouwen Hennigs (36), Kenan Karaman (52) and Kaan Ayhan (64). Werder could only compensate in the meantime by Johannes Eggestein (47.) and made a false start.
In Freiburg, the designated DFB President Fritz Keller expressed his attachment to the Breisgauer. "The SC Freiburg will always remain my heart club," said the club boss in front of the fans. On goals against Mainz Keller and the Freiburg supporters had to wait long: Lucas Höler (82), Jonathan Schmid (84) and Luca Waldschmidt (87.Foulelfmeter) made with their goals the ultimately clear opening three.
Maximilian Arnold (16) brought Wolfsburg into the lead with a remarkable direct defeat against Cologne. Wout Weghorst (60.) made in the second half for the premiere victory of coach Oliver Glasner. Simon Terodde scored the only goal (90. + 1).
