The parents of athlete Roelf B. do not understand that their son was arrested for drug trafficking in Hungary. They describe him in an interview with the V olkskrant as a very disciplined athlete.
Stories were circulating about B. that last year he would also have sold drugs at the Sziget festival. According to his father, this is "out of the blue" because it would be the first time he had gone to the festival.
Such a festival was not really something for him, his parents say. "Roelf never went out", his father tells in the interview.
"He always went home at 11 p.m., the others went on. But he wanted to sleep 9.5 hours a night, even on weekends." From his cell, B. would have asked for an elastic band so that he could continue training.
B. would not have the money for drugs
According to his father, the man would not have a remarkable amount of money either: "So he has never been able to pay for those drugs." In addition, B. would never have used drugs and he hardly drank.
B. was arrested together with a friend last week with, among other things, nearly 2,700 xtc pills and a quantity of marijuana. They would have sold drugs from their tent at Sziget in Budapest. He will stay in a Hungarian cell for at least another month.
