The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, commented on the draft law prepared by the Russian Ministry of Labor on raising the minimum wage (minimum wage) to 12130 rubles from January 1, 2020.

“When the budget for the next year is introduced, the so-called near-budget package is also introduced, which regulates certain parameters. The minimum wage is closed on the calculation of the cost of the consumer basket and the cost of living. In this way, the annual recount and increase in the minimum wage take place, ”he said.

The deputy also noted that due to the current situation with changes in the cost of food and medicines, it is necessary to "revise the minimum wage in the direction of increase."

“In addition, people who receive wages at this level should be exempt from income tax,” Nilov said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Labor prepared a bill to increase the minimum wage from 11,280 rubles to 12,130 rubles.

According to the new draft, it is proposed to amend Article 1 of the Federal Law of June 19, 2000 “On the Minimum Wage”.
