Three people and one escort were evacuated due to medical complications, the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms said.

Three migrants collected in the Mediterranean by the Open Arms humanitarian ship stuck off the coast of Italy were urgently evacuated for medical reasons, the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms announced on Friday.

134 migrants still on board

"Three people and one escort were urgently evacuated last night due to medical complications that require specialized care," writes the NGO, which is waiting to be authorized by Italy to disembark all its passengers on the island from Lampedusa. After this night evacuation on Lampedusa, there are 134 migrants on board, and Italy still refuses to let them land, said a spokesman for the NGO.

"By humanity"

This is the sixth time that migrants collected by the Open Arms are evacuated urgently. "All people on board need to land urgently, out of humanity," insists Open Arms on his Twitter account.

Six EU countries have said they are ready to welcome some of the migrants from the Open Arms, but the Italian interior minister, Matteo Salvini, has so far refused to allow them to disembark.
