The reason for the smaller mail delivery was a combination of smaller mail to distribute and that the company needs to save money due to the reduced revenue.

- This is a result of people sending fewer and fewer letters and then the letter volumes go down, says Annemarie Goldshol, acting CEO and CEO of Postnord Sweden.

Many people reacted negatively to the message. Among other things, a survey by the trade union Seko showed that a majority of the parliamentary parties were against a sparse postal dividend. The trade union also reported Postnord for breach of contract. Private individuals around the country also raised their voices.

Difficult for older people who cannot receive digital mail

One of those who wrote a submitter was Hans-Peter Stülten from Nynäshamn.

He questions whether it is reasonable that the mail is only distributed every other day and points out that not everyone can handle mail on mail.

- The biggest problem is mainly calls to doctors and the like. It is important that you get them on time and not just with a few days notice. And digital mail doesn't work for everyone, especially for the elderly. Then it must be that the mail comes on paper.

More letters than expected

So Postnord has now made the decision for the future.

- We see that this is an issue that is important to work through in a good way. We are also currently seeing a slightly smaller decline in the letters than we had planned for in our forecasts. It makes a huge difference to our financial results. Because we said that we should continue to work on this issue and prepare for a test a little further ahead, says Annemarie Goldshol.

- I think it's great if they shoot at it. I think it would be even better if they put it in the trash where it belongs, says Hans-Peter Stülten.
