Residents of the DPR and LPR filed more than 60 thousand applications for Russian citizenship

Valentina Kazakova, head of the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, said that residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics submitted more than 60 thousand applications for Russian citizenship.



“Today, more than 60 thousand applications have been submitted from residents of the DPR and LPR, more than 25 thousand people have received citizenship,” TASS quoted her as saying.

Along with this, Kazakova noted that the number of people wishing to obtain Russian passports is growing.

Earlier, the DPR called the number of citizens of Russia.

On July 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing residents of all regions of Donbass to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified mode.

The head of the Commission on Migration Policy of the Presidential Human Rights Council, Yevgeny Bobrov, in an interview with the NSN, commented on the issuance of Russian passports in the Donbass.
