At the foot of Mizobe-cho, Kirishima City, where Kagoshima Airport is currently located, there is a Navy special attack base "Second Kokubun Base" during the war, and 217 special attack soldiers dispatched and died in the year before the end of the war. .

The memorial hall was built where the base was located, and at the ceremonial festival held at the ceremony, each participant gave flowers to the war dead after silently singing the war dead. It was.

In the memorial hall, there is a panel displaying photographs and notes of the special attack members, and there is a `` go '' that was once used for storing weapons in the adjacent place, so you can see it up close. .

A man in his 80s said, “If the war continued, I would think that I might have gone on a special attack.”

Masahiro Yamamoto, who runs the memorial hall, said, "I want young people to see the exhibition and think about peace again."

The memorial hall can be visited free of charge and is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm.
