The question is whether the new tobacco law introduced on July 1 has changed the scrap? SVT went out on the town in Jönköping and counted fimps and met several people who have opinions and experience of the scrap, see it in the clip above.

- I think it's creepy, says Andreas Grenthe, one of the people SVT talked to.

No smoking in more places

The new legislation prohibits smoking in a number of public places outdoors such as business centers, bus stops, platforms, fenced sports grounds, playgrounds and outdoor seating. But one and a half months after the extended ban on smoking was introduced, there are still lots of smokers around Jönköping, even in places where there is a ban on smoking and there are prohibition signs.

- You don't think it's garbage, it's not deliberate garbage many times. It is ignorance that contributes to this, says Lena Stig at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

Want more places to fimp

The EU directive on measures for certain disposable plastic products introduces a producer responsibility for the fimps.

- It would also be easier not to scrap if there were more places to throw the pimp on, says Lena Stig.

The cigarette filter largely consists of a kind of plastic, cellulose acetate, which, like other plastics, turns into microplastics if it gets into the environment.

- It takes one to five years to break down a cigarette fimp into microplastics.
