Ministry of Internal Affairs: about 3 million Ukrainians can simplify to obtain Russian citizenship
The head of the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Valentina Kazakova, said that about 3 million Ukrainian citizens can take advantage of simplified procedures for obtaining Russian citizenship.
“The total number of people who can use (simplified rules for obtaining citizenship. - RT ) is about 3 million people,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
Earlier, Kazakova said that residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics filed more than 60 thousand applications for Russian citizenship.
On July 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing residents of all regions of Donbass to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified mode.
The head of the Commission on Migration Policy of the Presidential Human Rights Council, Yevgeny Bobrov, in an interview with the NSN, commented on the issuance of Russian passports in the Donbass.
