When game fencing is built along the roads, it shields by nature and can cause wild animals to have no opportunity to cross the road.

The Swedish Transport Administration has tried to counter this by building passages for the game across the road. These passages are thus called fauna bridges, and are like any bridge that crosses a road, only that it is decorated to fit animals.

-The main reason for building these larger structures is for the larger animals, such as moose and deer, etc., says Jonny Hermansson, site manager at the building.

Will the animals find the transition?

- They will. The animals usually adapt very well. They are happy to walk along the game fence until they reach the transition. So the game fence is very good for leading the animals, Jonny says.
