Ten minutes. That's all it took North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to respond to an invitation on Twitter by Donald Trump, said Thursday the US president.

The billionaire told a local radio in the state of New Hampshire, where he has to hold a campaign rally in the evening, that he was on the plane for South Korea, after having participated at the end of June at the summit of the G7 in Japan, when it came to mind the idea of a meeting with Kim.

"Nobody knew how to contact Kim Jong Un," he said. "So I tweeted (...) and he called back within ten minutes".

"If President Kim sees this message, I could meet him at the border / DMZ just to shake his hand and say hello (?)!", Donald Trump wrote on Twitter on June 29.

He became the next day the first American president to tread the soil of North Korea.

"That's the craziest thing," he enthused on local radio. "Twitter is an incredible way for me to communicate."

Kim Jong Un, who seems to follow him closely, will he join him one day on the network?
