After the school fire in Löttorp - students can start the semester as planned

On Tuesday next week the autumn term starts in Löttorp.

- We will have classrooms where we can accommodate the children, says Helena Svensson, Head of Education at Borgholm Municipality.

Åkerboskolan usually has about 180 pupils. Now 140 of them are without regular classrooms. The solution is that the students get together on the surfaces.

The leisure center and music hall will be opened for classroom instruction and in the first weeks more trips will be arranged than usual. Three weeks after the start of the semester, the idea is to have pavilions in place.

The pavilions will act as a temporary solution while the new school is being built. Even before the fire, there were plans to build a new school in Löttorp. Plans that are now becoming even more urgent.

- The plan is for it to be completed by autumn term 20/21. Now we have to put on an extra gear so that we get ready.

You were a bit unlucky because you already had plans for a new school?

- You can say that. But what we did not plan for was that we needed evacuation rooms in the meantime. We had intended to remain in school during the construction of the new school.
