The interlocutor of the agency also added that the US authorities are concerned about "reports of movements of Chinese armed forces along the borders of Hong Kong."

Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry demanded that the United States "not poke its nose" in the affairs of Hong Kong.

On August 13, US leader Donald Trump, referring to US intelligence, said that China was "pulling the army" to the border with Hong Kong amid riots in the area.
