It is clarified that the UAOC has joined the non-canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU). In connection with the liquidation of the UAOC, all powers of attorney issued to her name before July 29 were revoked.

“This was naturally expected, because the UAOC became part of the newly created non-canonical unrecognized Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This was the result of the religious policy that was initiated by Petro Poroshenko and which led to the fact that two unrecognized Ukrainian schismatic churches together created a church, which was called the PCU and received a tomos from Constantinople, ”said Shapovalov.

He added that the UAOC was created in the post-revolutionary period. Then the first split and the first attempt to separate the Ukrainian church from the Russian Orthodox Church took place, the expert added.

“Accordingly, then for several years it existed, ceased to exist, was recreated again during the collapse of the Soviet Union, but for a number of reasons, both religious and political, it is not an essential subject of religious relations in Ukraine,” concluded Shapovalov.

Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church ceased to exist.

In July, the head of the non-canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate (UOC-KP) Filaret (Denisenko) expressed the opinion that the PCU has no future.
