Patrik has the diagnoses ADD and autism. This means that everyday life is a little tougher than for other children. You have a lot of people around you and it gets easy messy. Therefore, it has always been extra important to arrange and find out for Patrik, and that he is given special support to manage the school.

- In low and middle school he had an action program and had his own assistant. But when he started seven, he got no assistant, says mom Eva.

"Seemed as bad as anything"

Then it said stop. Patrik no longer wanted to know about the high school in Ulricehamn.

- He decided then that he would not set foot in school once again. He felt bad. He was completely ruined every afternoon here, Eva says.

She says she and her husband tried to get him to go to school, but that he refused to go there under the circumstances that were then.

- We were pushing him all the time and trying to get him to school. But he really didn't want to. He wasn't feeling well. He was burned out and lost focus completely, explains Eva.

"Serious student case"

The school inspectorate has on two occasions previously criticized the current Ulricehamns school. The school has tried to deal with Patrik's school situation, including through a customized course of study with shorter days, and a special teaching group.

But that was not enough, the School Inspectorate, who this spring came criticized for the third time. Now the school risks knowing if the situation for Patrik does not improve.

- This is a serious student case. Since the student has not received the education to which they are entitled, the school has not done enough, says Åsa Stattin, investigator at the School Inspectorate.

SVT News West has applied for the current school, but they write in an email that they do not want to comment on Patrik's situation.

Parents hope for school change

During the spring, Patrik also received homeschooling, which also did not work according to the parents. They now hope that Patrik, when the fall semester begins, will be able to attend another school that targets students with diagnostic problems. But they have not yet received that message.

- They have a different expertise about diagnoses. We hope we get help now, says mom Eva.

Patrik and Eva are really named something else.
