It is noted that in the letter he, in particular, talks about his trip to Russia in 2015 and calls it "his favorite place in the world." He also writes that he would like to visit Russia someday.
In addition, Tarrant thanks the addressee for the sent stamps, which he hides from the guards in the prison.
In turn, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, said that the shooter should not have had the opportunity to send a letter to Russia.
“There simply shouldn’t be such contacts,” said Ardern.
On March 15, shooting was fired at two Christchurch mosques, killing at least 50 people.
In June, it was reported that Brenton Tarrant, accused of committing terrorist attacks in New Zealand mosques, pleaded not guilty.
