Boyko called for negotiations on gas transit through Ukraine

“If there is no new contract, the country will be in a very difficult situation. This applies to the financial component, and security, and jobs. Therefore, we will insist that negotiations be conducted, ”he said.

According to him, representatives of the Ukrainian parliament have already held the first round of negotiations, at which the Russian side showed understanding of the situation.

He also noted that the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system by an international consortium will ensure its relevance.

Earlier, the Ukrainian company Ukrtransgaz stated that the country's gas transmission system was ready for the “zero transit” scenario from 2020.

Expert Alexander Okhrimenko, in an interview with the NSN, appreciated Kiev’s preparation of a contingency plan in the event of failure of gas transit negotiations.
