An 80-year-old man has been arrested at his home in Oviedo when he attempted suicide after stabbing his former partner, 73 , at her home in the town of Pola de Siero , police sources have reported.
After receiving notice of the aggression suffered by the woman, who has been transferred to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) with a serious prognosis although her life is not in danger, the National Police agents moved to the home of the alleged aggressor, in the neighborhood of Ventanielles of the Asturian capital.
Upon accessing the house, the agents found him trying to hang himself and could prevent him from consuming his attempt before transferring him to the same hospital as his victim.
According to the same sources, the detainee is waiting to be discharged before going to court, presumably tomorrow, and the aggression meets the characteristics of a crime of sexist violence.
