On this evening in July, an employee would make an effort with the woman, who has epilepsy and MS. The employee noted that it was dirty in the apartment, but thought the woman used to have it that way.

The woman was lying in bed and must have said that everything was okay and then the staff left the apartment.

After the visit, the employee should have asked four colleagues to come and look at the apartment because it was so dirty. They declined and said the employee performed their duties.

Dried feces

Late in the evening, a relative called the night patrol because the person did not make contact with the woman during the day. The alarm patrol went home to the woman. The apartment smelled of feces and the staff found the woman lying in bed with feces on her. Dried stools were also on the floor of the kitchen, cupboards and countertops.

"Of course it is very regrettable and here we have failed," says Sara Aldrin, Head of Unit for Home Services.

The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital because of a suspected epilepsy attack.

Has Lex Sarah been notified

No immediate action has been taken, but the procedures have been revised.

- We need to become better at communicating, following up our routines better. In this case, it is about an inexperienced employee who has not made a completely correct assessment, says Sara Aldrin.

Do you consider that a person who cannot see the difference between dust and feces is suitable to work in health care?

- In this case, I do. The person has shown that he wants to develop and has made several good efforts at other times. Therefore, the employee is still working.

The incident has been lax Sarah-reported to the Inspection for Care and Care.
