TOKYO (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump has asked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe directly to buy agricultural products at a huge price, Kyodo news agency reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed Japanese and US government sources. Trump has asked Japan to buy certain products, such as soybeans and wheat, Kyodo said, adding that the demand was separate from the framework of the current trade talks between Washington and Tokyo. The Japanese government will consider its response, Kyodo said, and one of the proposals is to buy agricultural products as food subsidies for African countries. The purchases will be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, including transportation costs, Kyodo said.
