The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that medical facilities in the Yemeni interim capital of Aden are severely short of medicines and medical supplies, while MSF called for urgent measures to ensure the protection of civilians in the country.

A report by the Red Cross said that continued fighting in Aden over the past three days prevented access to the wounded stranded for ambulance, as well as access to hospitals, resulting in the death of a number of them.

According to the report, at least 200,000 people were deprived of clean water because clashes intensified during daylight hours, after days of violent clashes in the city that killed dozens and wounded hundreds.

The report also said that large-scale conflict, severe economic decline, food insecurity and the collapse of the basic public services system are negatively affecting Yemenis.

MSF International called for urgent measures to ensure the protection of civilians in Yemen and condemned the attacks.

The United Nations has warned of the deteriorating security situation in Aden in conjunction with the strengthening of the UAE-backed Transitional Council to control the city.

Stephen Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General for Al-Jazeera, said the world body has started reducing its staff in the Yemeni provisional capital Aden until the security of their duties is as safe as before.
