Matteo Salvini was defeated in the Senate meeting to decide the date of the examination of the motion of censure filed by the League, against the President of the Council Giuseppe Conte. He asked for a vote on August 14, the 5-star movement wanted to wait until August 20, the date chosen by Giuseppe Conte for his statements before the Senate. Screaming from all sides of the benches and reminders to the order of the President of the Senate who waved her little bell in vain. All this took place during the statements of Senator Salvini, who called for the vote of his no-confidence motion on August 14, and who against all odds offered his former allies of the Five-Star Movement his support to adopt, before a return to urns, the bill on reducing the number of parliamentarians very dear to the M5S.

Finally, backed by Democratic Party officials, including Matteo Renzi, who advocates a center-left -5-star government to defeat Salvini and his far-right allies, the Movement, headed by Luigi Di Maio, won.

The vote of the motion of censure was fixed at August 20th. But at this stage, there is no reason to say that a new political majority could be formed to avoid early elections .
