“This step looks like a political PR move, supposedly Ukraine’s response to the fact that Russia decided to simplify the provision of Russian citizenship to those in the occupied territories,” her statement quoted RIA Novosti during a briefing.

According to European Solidarity, this initiative is premature under current conditions.

“This is a hasty step, since the practice of civilized countries provides for political asylum in such cases until all circumstances are examined,” the party representative said.

Earlier Zelensky simplified the acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship for Russians who participated in ensuring the security and defense of Ukraine, and were also subjected to “political persecution.”

The Director General of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting Rostislav Ishchenko, commenting on the law in an interview with the FBA “Economics Today,” noted that Ukraine is not the most attractive country for refugees.
