Several witnesses have posted photos and videos on social media. There are cars that burn at several places in Gothenburg and in Trollhättan. A total of about 80 cars must have been burned or damaged during Monday night.

- I was on my way home and saw that a boat on a trailer was burning and then I called SOS Alarm directly, says a person who witnessed one of the fires in Hjällbo.

"It was scary, I was afraid it would be an explosion because of the cars nearby," she says.

At Frölunda square, several dark-skinned masked people were seen walking from car to car and lighting a fire. They carried on cans with some kind of liquid poured into the cars.

"Heard a loud bang"

Witness Ali, who lives right next to the parking lot at Frölunda square, says:

- We were playing games when we heard a loud bang. We looked down and saw the fire spread rapidly.

Another who was present at the event and filmed the car fires is M politician Zagros Hama.

- I was on my way to the bus at Frölunda square, when a man came running towards me and shouted that it was burning. I went to the parking lot and saw how seven or eight cars were burning, he says.

"Began to calm down"

At 22 o'clock, the emergency services announced that they had overcome most of the fires.

- It has started to calm down now, says Martin Olsson at the rescue service Greater Gothenburg.

Police are now asking for more testimony from the public.

"All the testimonies are of value," says police Claes Dahlström on site in Frölunda.
