After the failure to reach agreement at the conference of the group leaders, the assembly of the senators, at 6.00 pm, votes on the calendar indicated by a majority yesterday, establishing the date of August 20 for the communications of the Prime Minister and the vote on the distrust presented by the League. And the center-right returns to compact around the League: a meeting between Berlusconi and Salvini is expected for Palazzo Grazioli today. In the afternoon, before the debate in the Chamber, a press conference by the senator and former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. A clear rift occurred at the conference of the group leaders at Palazzo Madama. After a little less than two hours, the presidents of the various groups did not reach unanimity on the date on which Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte will make his communications to the House. M5s, Pd, Misto and Autonomie have indicated the date of 20, while Lega, FI and FdI have asked that the communications of the premier take place on Wednesday 14, after the commemorations of the collapse of the Genoa Bridge. As there was no unanimity, the ball now passes to the Assembly, which today will decide the final calendar by majority. This is what the Senate regulation provides.
It will be up to the political forces that in the group leaders have put forward a different proposal - it is the case of the League, the FdI and FI, who asked that the House be called on Wednesday 14 and not on the communications of Conte but on the motion of no confidence in the premier - to advance and put the request to change the calendar to the vote.
Article 55 of the Senate regulation states: "The calendar, if adopted unanimously, will be final and will be communicated to the Assembly. Otherwise, proposals for changes may be made by a senator by Group. change proposals decide the Assembly by voting by show of hands, after the intervention of no more than one speaker per Group and for no more than ten minutes each. The final calendar is published and distributed ".
To recap: if no group proposes a different agenda for the session of the Palazzo Madama and a different day compared to August 20, the calendar established by the conference of the group leaders by a majority will be final. If, instead, one or more groups propose changes, then the requests will be put to the vote and will pass if they get the majority of the votes.
