There were two or possibly three people with face masks coming into the shop in central Ludvika around 21.30 on Monday evening. They had a gun-like object with which they threatened staff at the cash register, reports Christina Hallin, a press spokeswoman at the Bergslagen Police.

The perpetrators brought cash and cigarettes at an unknown value so far, and then fled the site. At 22 o'clock, they are still at large and no suspect has been identified.

Several police patrols were called out to the store to search for the robbers and hear possible witnesses on the scene. The shop is also closed off for a technical examination.

No person was physically injured. The incident is classified as armed robbery.
