Civilian police officers will strengthen security during the Aste Nagusia of Bilbao to prevent sexist and sexist aggressions.

Responsible for the Municipal Police and Ertzaintza have held a meeting this morning under the presidency of the mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto , to coordinate the security device for the Bilbao festivities, which start on Saturday, the 17th.

The approved operation makes a special impact on the chapter on prevention of sexual aggressions, something already usual other years, but this time is especially marked by the case of 'La Manada' of Bilbao, the group rape in the Park of Etxebarria a an 18-year-old girl, who is currently under investigation.

Precisely, with the intention of reinforcing prevention, the number of civilian agents in the holiday venues will be reinforced, such as El Arenal, Circular Square, Casco Viejo, Erkoreka Square, Volantín Field and nearby, the Etxebarria Park barracks, concert areas from Abandoibarra and Europa Park, Doña Casilda Park, the Bullring, Indautxu and Moyua Square. In addition, surveillance outside the festive space will be reinforced, to try to avoid the aggressions that may occur when returning home. In total, the police staff for the holidays will increase by 100 agents .

During the presentation of the security device, from the Bilbao City Council they have called on the whole society to be "active agent" to avoid this type of aggression, also reinforcing the "zero tolerance for macho attitudes", denouncing any type of abuse or aggression "It is everyone's responsibility," they said. In addition, they have made a recommendation to women to download the free app AgreStop / EraStop , which allows direct notification to the Municipal Police in case of an assault, and that more than 15,000 people have already been downloaded.

Municipal Police and Ertzaintza will also work in a coordinated way to prevent theft and other crimes. The Lost and Found objects service will be reinstalled at the Municipal Police facilities in the City Hall, to reduce the return time for lost items. Last year, 544 items were found, including wallets, bags, keys, documentation and phones.

The Advanced Medical Center will be located at the bottom of the Abando station, in the exit tunnel towards Hurtado de Amézaga.

The Municipal Police have planned the execution of more than 30 alcohol and narcotic controls for drivers in different parts of the city, while Ertzaintza will do so at various points of access to the town.
