“According to the regional forestry dispatch services, over the past day on August 11, 53 forest fires on an area of 5,717 ha were eliminated in Russia,” the statement said.
According to the latest data, there are 202 forest fires in the country on an area of 283,167 ha.
The largest area of fires is still recorded in the Irkutsk region (146 747 ha) and in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (126 125 ha).
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to allocate about 6 billion rubles to eliminate forest fires in some regions of the country.
