“The conflict in Libya is at a critical stage. France condemns the attack on UN staff and calls for an investigation into this attack, the perpetrators must be punished, ”said Anna Gögen, French Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN.

She called on the parties to the conflict to follow the previously concluded armistice in Libya, and also said that the Libyan crisis could not have a military solution.

The meeting was also addressed by the Acting US Ambassador to the United Nations, Jonathan Cohen.

“All parties must take reliable steps to de-escalate the situation and reduce the level of violence,” he said.

Earlier, France convened an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Libya, where two employees of the organization were killed.
